Chris Wilder’s Name Pops Up As Emery’s Replacement

Chris Wilder As Emery's Replacement

Loads of names are in the frame to take over from Unai Emery in the Emirates hot-seat, but former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has made a surprise pick for the next Arsenal manager should the Gunners decide to sack Unai Emery.

Jose Mourinho has been strongly linked with the role, so is former Juventus manager, Massimiliano Allegri.

But Cascarino believes there is another contender that the Gunners should be considering – Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder.

“Man United job, Arsenal job – Chris Wilder? Absolutely,” Cascarino told talkSPORT.

“There would be a snobbery around football that would go for Allegri or Mourinho. But I'm like, ‘No, I'd rather go with Chris Wilder.'

“He knows football, he's a proper football person. Like Sir Alex Ferguson, Jurgen Klopp at Mainz, Pep Guardiola at Barcelona B – he's shown what he can do.

“I believe there are managers in lower league football who are very gifted and deserve an opportunity. Chris has gone through the whole lot.”
