‘Racist’ Divock Origi Banner: Liverpool Fan Suspended

Racist Divock Origi Banner

Liverpool have suspended the supporter behind a ‘racist’ Divock Origi banner.

A flag depicting Origi’s head on the body of a naked black man was displayed ahead of the Reds’ Champions League win over Genk last Wednesday.

Anfield officials condemned the banner, which is currently the subject of an investigation by Belgian police in conjunction with their Merseyside counterparts.

Separately, Liverpool have taken steps to address the issue with the supporter responsible temporarily suspended from attending all of the club’s games.

It is understood that the European champions’ decision was reached following a meeting of the club’s Sanctions Panel in the aftermath of the incident.

Any tickets the man may have already purchased in advance will be refunded.

He has been given 14 days from the receipt of the letter and email to respond to the notice of the ban, which will require another panel meeting if fulfilled.
